Ready for a Spring Sneak Peek?!

Meet Alayna Hanson from Alayna Hanson Fine Art...
My name is Alayna Hanson and I'm a student, photographer, and painter from Columbus, Ohio. I previously studied fine arts at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design before transferring to the Ohio State University, where I now study art and musical theatre. After graduation, I intend to apply to a doctoral program in physical therapy. I have been creating in some capacity since I was old enough to grasp a pencil, but have been making art in a more professional capacity since 2014. Sometimes I make work simply to marvel at the genius of God's creations; other times, I make work in attempt to solve a problem or grapple with complicated ideas. Ultimately, I am just deeply curious about pretty much everything, and art-making provides a mechanism for me to explore that curiosity. Overall, my art practice is a means for me to cope with life as a lupus patient--no matter what I make, it seems to all go back to that. My work delves into the harder experiences, like not being believed by doctors, but it also acts as a celebration of things that bring me peace and joy. I love pop culture and nature, for instance.
This is my debut in an Avant-Garde Art & Craft Shows event--hopefully, the first of many more! In five years, I hope to have the coveted letters "DPT" after my name, or at least be in the process of receiving them, but I will never stop creating art. (I have to stay sane somehow, after all.) After surviving the challenge of graduate school, I hope my fine art business continues to grow in maturity and scope. You can view my work online at www.behance.net/alaynahanson. I also have a Flickr account where I post my photographs and a Society6 web store, where I have prints and home goods available for sale.

Meet Patricia Williamson from Hive to Hand...
Hive to Hand is a family owned business from Columbus, Ohio. Connie is an Army veteran, former elementary teacher, mother of four, grandmother of 10 and operates Lazy W Farm in Canal Winchester. I am the mother of 1 and an Aveda-trained hairstylist and makeup artist with 14 years of experience.
I have been passionate about homemade skin, hair, and bath products since youth. I have been experimenting and making products for over 20 years. Connie became interested in the business five years ago when she began beekeeping as a hobby. Together, we found we could merge our interests with Hive to Hand, providing customers locally sourced beeswax products and other natural personal care creations and this will be our first Avant-Garde Show.
I have a love for all things botanical and natural and loves creating and testing recipes. Connie and her husband own an 18 acre farm. Connie takes care of the property which includes a small apple orchard, chickens, and 10 bee hives. She appreciates the benefits of the bees and loves the process of extracting their signature apple-flavored honey and warm-scented, golden beeswax that is featured in our products. As a previous 1st and 2nd grade teacher, Connie loves to educate all ages of people on the benefits of bees.

Both of us love creating. Connie has always had a passion for doing arts and crafts, to include scrapbooking, stained glass art and organizing and decorating. I enjoy anything creative from cooking and sewing, to hairstyling and makeup artistry. Together as creative and passionate individuals, my background in skin and natural beauty products and Connie’s business and organizational background, going into the handmade business was a natural fit! In addition as mother and daughter, Connie and I have developed a special relationship and complement each other very well.
One day as we were extracting honey and beeswax from the hives at Lazy W Farm, we started talking about the possibilities of creating a business based on these amazing ingredients the bees give us. From there, Hive to Hand was created and we have been enjoying watching it grow since then with the support of our family and friends along the way. We start with a basic recipe for each product. Through research, trial and error, and feedback from our customers we were able to determine what ratios of botanicals and oils we will use. Finally, we determined what type of packaging and labeling works best for each product. Each product we make is hand-poured and made in small batches. We use local, natural, and organic products as much as possible so that we can provide clean, safe, effective and luxurious handmade beeswax products that we feel proud of.

We hope to do more shows, network with other business owners and crafters, and open an Etsy business. We are experimenting with making herb-infused oils and plan to incorporate them into all of our products. We are also excited to expand our product line to include hair products, more skin-care and candles.

Clean, simple, and natural non-toxic products that you can feel good about using. The skin is our largest organ and we believe what goes on it should be pure and made with love. Most of all, we are grateful for the hard work of the bees that provide the foundation of our products.

Meet Tasha TenEyck from Miracle Designs...
My name is Tasha and I am 32 years old.  I have a son who is 6 who is my whole world. I am engaged and going to be getting married in June. I love being outside, love shooting my bow. I like to play pool and love to exercise. I am a laid back caring person who loves helping others. I have been officially crafting for about 4-5 months, I did scrapbooking when I was in high school and made crafts here and there but started selling and started my business it's been about 4-5 months. This is my first time attending the show and I am very excited to see how it goes.
I am a country girl so i love the farmhouse look but i get most of my inspiration off Pinterest! I've always attended craft shows and vintage shows and just sparked my interest to start making items for myself that I would usually buy from someone else. My mom had always been crafting and growing up i loved it and guess it's just in my Gene's to be creative. Feel sometimes it comes natural. I have came along way from my very first project. I would say my style is mostly country and farmhouse style.

I would like to see my business in 5 years have a successful Etsy shop and would love to be in a store front somewhere. I love what I do and it's a passion that makes me happy.

Meet Riley Gundlach from Tail-Waggin' Ties...
Hello! My name is Riley and I just recently graduated from college and I am enjoying my first year as an elementary school teacher. Along with teaching I am currently fostering a service dog in training. I love getting outdoors by hopping on the local trail or going camping. When I am not teaching or hiking I also love to show my artistic side with DIY projects. I started sewing Tail-Waggin’ Bow Ties this year. This is my first Avant-Garde show and I cannot wait to see all the opportunities it brings.
Creating bow ties helps me de-stress. I am inspired to sew in order to donate to a good cause and provide stylish accessories for pets. The craft hobby has come naturally due to my family being highly artistic. I discovered my talent when I was donated an old sewing machine with nothing to sew. My creative process is usually inspired by a fun fabric pattern I find.
In five years I see myself being a highly competitive handmade pet bow tie business that has expanded its product line to leashes.
The message behind my work is one very near and dear to my heart. When my older sister was in college she had the chance to volunteer for an organization that provides service dogs for children worldwide. During her time at school she was able to foster four dogs. Many people do not understand the time, effort, and work that goes into helping prepare a service dog for their forever family. Not only did I observe the effort she put in for each dog but the impact they had on her. Service dogs in training begin working when they are young by touching each heart they meet without evening knowing it. Seeing the impact these dogs had on the families they went to from alerting seizures to applying pressure was truly eye opening. I wanted to be apart of this amazing experience. This past year I began my own journey to volunteer by deciding to help raise a service dog in training. The organization I am volunteering for is nonprofit meaning they solely operate on donations. I decided to give back a little more by creating a business in which I can donate money for such a great cause. A portion of my pet bow tie profits are donated to the organization. Each day customers put a stylish bow on their pet I want them to know their purchase is making a difference.

Meet Karl Delagrange from Karl Delagrange Pottery...
I have always loved art. When I was 14, my family moved to the United States from Ecuador. Through that transition, I hold a deep appreciation for different cultures and styles of expression. In high school, I made a point to attend every art class that my school offered, and won numerous awards from my high school and hometown. Since then, I have invested more time in the arts, exploring different mediums such as oil painting, photography, pastels, and especially, pottery. I have taken art classes at St. Francis University, Flint Institute of Arts and MOTT Community College and have also enjoyed learning firsthand from renown artists Mark Gingerich, Robert Spooner, and Steven Hill. In 2015, I was asked to head a charity project: giving potted plants to the mothers in the neighborhood. I decided to try making the pots myself. Since then, my focus has shifted from oil painting to working almost solely in functional ceramics. My work in ceramics is inspired by organic shapes, textures and colors, and the idea that art is something that should be touched, used, and experienced in the course of everyday life. I and my wife, Allison, and daughter, Ana, live in Flint, Michigan, but my wife’s family lives in the Columbus area. This will be my first Avant-Garde Art & Craft Show.
I spend a lot of my time outdoors exploring my surroundings. I believe that nature contains unparalleled design and beauty which I believe communicates the existence of a Creator and speaks to my spirit. Consequently, I desire for my work to reflect the organic shapes, undulating lines, and loose patterns found in nature. I find it fascinating to study the connections between a finished piece of ceramics and the earth we walk on. My goal is for those who use my work to share in this experience of the natural world.

Each piece I create is carefully handcrafted to be functional while still achieving a high level of aesthetic excellence.
